A Reading of Chekhov
We are delighted to announce award-winning actor Emily Watson will join us to read Chekhov’s A Visit to Friends.
Enjoy a reading of Chekhov’s short story that inspired this year’s Aldeburgh Festival Opera, in the enchanting woodland setting of Thorington Theatre.
Emily has worked in film including Breaking the Waves, Punch Drunk Love, Gosford Park, Small Things Like These and Hamnet; in TV, including Chernobyl, Appropriate Adult, Apple Tree Yard, Dune Prophecy and in theatre, including Uncle Vanya and Twelfth Night at the Donmar Warehouse.
Emily is a welcome addition to our Aldeburgh Festival artist family and this special reading promises a magical opening to this year’s Festival.
