An introduction to arts and health research
Join Daisy Fancourt, Professor of Psychobiology & Epidemiology at University College London (UCL) and Head of the Social Biobehavioural Research Group, a leading expert in arts and health for an introduction to the field. Discover the “active ingredients” and “mechanisms of action” that make the arts a powerful tool for health.
In this lecture, Prof Fancourt will:
- Introduce the concept of arts in health and its evidence base, highlighting key pieces of research from her research group and elsewhere
- Provide examples and guidance on how to design arts and health interventions
- Discuss current key developments in the field of arts and health and address global policy challenges and opportunities
This lecture is part of a training course “Arts Health Research Intensive”, organised by the Social Biobehavioural Research Group at UCL, in partnership with the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Arts and Health at UCL, the WHO-Jameel Arts & Health Lab and the University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine. We are delighted to be offering local practitioners, arts and community organisations, policymakers, and funders the opportunity to join us for this opening lecture, as part of our partnership with Britten Pears Arts.
