The wonderful Britten Sinfonia returns with a stunning programme that ranges from Mozart to Arvo Pärt.

Fresh from the BBC Proms at Bristol Beacon comes this compelling combination of orchestral colours. Sibelius’ Rakastava (The Lover) reworks an earlier choral setting of three Finnish folk poems into a deeply emotional suite for string orchestra, percussion and triangle.

Arvo Pärt’s Tabula Rasa is an atmospheric and captivating concerto for two violins, prepared piano and orchestra, and one of this extraordinary composer's seminal works. As a fellow-composer wrote of its first performance in 1977: “I was carried beyond. I had the feeling that eternity was touching me through this music...nobody wanted to start clapping.”

Mozart’s delightful 39th Symphony adds elegance and a touch of mystery, while Gavin Higgins’ 2020 BBC Proms commission, Rough Voices, is a call to arms for our times.
