Watch a clip of Schubert's Octet from the Young Classical Artists Trust's 40th anniversary at Wigmore Hall:
This wonderful recital is performed by leading artists in celebration of an enduring commitment to artist development. Schubert’s Octet is one of the pinnacles of chamber music: dramatic, tender, full of vibrant rhythm and intricate instrumental interplay. Coleridge-Taylor wrote his Nonet as a student; it is a highly inventive and colourful work that is in itself a celebration of youth and creativity.
This concert is the end of a celebratory tour performed by current and former artists from Young Classical Artists Trust, several of whom are also Britten Pears Young Artists alumni. Two new works complete the programme. YCAT Composer Fellow, James B. Wilson's new work, and a world premiere by Sasha Scott, commissioned by Britten Pears Arts for this very special occasion – a celebration of the 40th anniversary of YCAT and our joint commitment to the nurturing of young artists.
