Festival Walk: In Britten’s Footsteps
A guided tour from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness, retracing Britten’s famous “composing walks”.
Britten’s art is rooted deeply in his sense of place. Peter Grimes, which launched a new era in English opera and made its composer a star, was born from his rediscovery of his Suffolk roots: roots which nourished his subsequent career and inspired him to found this very distinctive arts festival here on the Suffolk coast. “Composing walks” in this landscape were part of his daily routine. Retracing one of Britten’s regular routes, walkers will explore the importance of the Suffolk landscape to his music and to the Festival he founded.
The walk covers approximately five miles and lunch is included in the ticket price.
