Bellot Ensemble explore music of devotion and passion from 17th century Italy in their second Friday Lunchtime Concert.

Taking its cue from Legrenzi’s phrase “O come piace" (as it pleases), this programme brings together vocal and instrumental music from 17th-century Italy. Songs, sonatas, canzonas and dances sit alongside one another, moving between the sacred and the secular. Across intimate laments, lively instrumental writing and devotional song, the programme reflects a culture comfortable with contrast, variety and freedom of expression.

Bellot Ensemble are a dynamic period instrument group known for their energetic performances and style-specific improvisation. Specialising in 17th century repertoire, the ensemble combines rigorous historical research with spontaneous creativity, sharing the joy of this glorious repertoire with their audiences.

Bellot Ensemble are the recipients of the Keith Coventry Bursary and are also supported by The Fidelio Charitable Trust.
