This celebrated early-music group, praised by King Charles III for “world-class performances”, presents sparkling choral music including Handel’s Dixit Dominus.

The richly bejewelled programme also includes two of J.S. Bach’s famous motets, the “lamento” for solo alto by J.C. Bach, as well as two powerful anthems by Purcell alongside his masterful Funeral Sentences, composed for the funeral of Queen Mary.

Handel’s Dixit Dominus is an exhilarating, colourfully dramatic work which astonished contemporary audiences and is no less impactful today.

This special performance in Snape Maltings Concert Hall is conducted by the Monteverdi Choir’s newly appointed Choir Director Jonathan Sells, an alumnus of the Britten Pears Young Artist and Residency Programmes.
