Assistant Producer - Residencies
JobsBritten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast at two popular, historic visitor destinations: The Red House and Snape Maltings. We emerged from the creative partnership of Benjamin Britten, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, and his professional and personal partner, singer Peter Pears.
Our founders’ vision, that music should be useful and enhance lives, inspires all our activities: our work with local and marginalised communities through to our national leadership roles in the fields of talent development and music for health & wellbeing. The increasingly diverse year-round programme of events reaches out to an ever wider public, and our artist-development work (including the Residencies programme) gives musicians of all backgrounds time, space and support to develop and create.
Residencies sit at the heart of our artist development programme, and our strategy to engaging with artists and projects, developing them through to performance and delivery. Residency artists can expect to be welcomed into a safe and supportive environment where they can create, take risks and embark on a journey with us making a step change in their career. The culmination will be a performance within our renowned year-round programme.
This newly created role will deliver residencies throughout the year, working closely with the Programme Manager and other music programme colleagues as appropriate. This will include pre-residency preparation, as well as taking care of the artists whilst they’re at BPA.
Some relevant experience is required. This opportunity is likely to suit candidates seeking their second or third position, particularly those who thrive in a creative and supportive environment. You will understand how to look after artists so that they can focus on their residency. You will be resourceful, able to solve problems that arise and use your initiative appropriately. You will also be an excellent communicator who finds it easy to build respectful relationships with people operating at all levels in the arts & beyond.
We are an equal opportunities employer and believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates of all ages and from all backgrounds, in particular from minority ethnic backgrounds and disabled candidates who are currently under-represented at Britten Pears Arts.
