At Snape Maltings, our significant commercial activity includes Retail, Hospitality, Galleries and Property – including holiday lets and accommodation for visiting artists. All commercial profits are used to support the BPA charity. As well as The Red House, Aldeburgh which was the home of Benjamin Britten and Pears we also have a number of properties which are let to visiting artists and holiday makers.
Our brilliant and stable team currently consists of approximately 20 housekeepers who, between them, cover all of our locations, which include offices, performance and exhibition spaces, accommodation and all public areas.
This is a new role created to support and deputise for the Head of Housekeeping. It will combine hands-on working with the team as well as supervising the team on a day-to-day basis across all locations. Ideally, we are looking for someone who would like to develop their supervisory/managerial skills and experience and who has the potential to progress.
Ideally this role will be full time, spread over 5 days out of 7, working 35 hours per week on a rota basis which will also include alternate weekends and Wednesday working. Shifts are 7am-3pm. Salary will be dependent on experience. Pool cars are available for travel between Snape and Aldeburgh. The role requires a flexible approach to work and working hours, including the ability to work alternate weekends, start work at 7am and be available to cover occasional evenings during peak periods eg: during the summer period. We will also consider suitable candidates who may prefer to work on a part time basis – 4 days per week including alternate weekends.
We are looking for:
- Housekeeping and supervisory experience, gained in a commercial or larger scale setting.
- A good understanding of “best practice” and cleaning standards.
- Understanding of COSHH.
- Proficient IT skills and confident about learning new systems.
- Must be able to work alongside the team which may include hoovering, changing beds, working quickly and efficiently.
- Ideally to have experience of working with an accommodation booking and/or online rota system.
- A full clean driving licence.
