Singer Claire Booth, classical pianist Alisdair Hogarth and jazz legend Jason Rebello explore the frontiers of jazz and classical music as they re-interpret Schumann’s landmark song-cycle Frauenliebe und -leben (‘A Woman’s Love and Life’).
Long fascinated by the ‘in-between’ world that exists between jazz and classical traditions, the artists weave together their extraordinary abilities to illuminate the emotional journey of Schumann’s 19th-century masterpiece. The performers re-examine the musical and poetic landscape of the work, as they combine and contrast harmonies and melodies both old and new.
