Join us in the marquee on the lawn to meet artist Jane Mackay and view her response to Britten’s music.

During 2025 – to mark the 50th anniversary of Britten’s death in 2026 – Jane Mackay completed a hundred paintings – one for each of Britten’s opus-numbered works.

There will be a digital display of the complete collection, and a number of the pieces will be on view.

The event also includes the launch of two books published by Bittern Press: the companion volume to Jane Mackay’s collection – Painting Britten: 100 Visions of the Music – which includes commentaries on all the works by Andrew Plant, and Elizabeth Sweeting: The Best and Happiest Days, a memoir of the early Aldeburgh Festivals by the first Festival Manager and her correspondence with Britten, edited by Philip Reed and Justin Vickers.

This event will run from 10.30am until 4.30pm. There will be introductory talks, with drinks and canapés, at 12pm and 2pm, alongside performances by renowned oboist Nicholas Daniel.

Entrance to the marquee is free.

Art and both books will be available to purchase on the day.
