Aldeburgh Beach and Lowestoft Beach

Our annual beach pilgrimage to celebrate the Solstice Sunrise, along with a new work commemorating the first and last moments of Britten, our founding composer.

Bilge Nur Yılmaz’s Sea Spirals unfolds simultaneously as the sun rises along two shores of the Suffolk coast. Inspired by the starting and ending places of Britten’s life it appears in two companion forms: Dissolved in Foam, performed in Lowestoft at sunrise as part of First Light Festival, and Scallop Aubade, performed on the beach at Aldeburgh.

As in previous years, The Suffolk will be providing delicious bacon baps (plus vegetarian option) and Bramble Coffee serving hot drinks, both for purchase.

In the event of wet weather, it might be transferred indoors or cancelled; we will keep our social media updated at the time.

Free; no need to book.
