A dramatic programme featuring Mussorgsky’s Night on the Bare Mountain and Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld.

These two pieces, played by the scintillating sounds of a symphony orchestra, take us up to the scary heights of a mountain at a witches’ sabbath and then down to the depths of the underworld. The programme is completed by Franck’s best-known orchestral work, Symphony in D minor.

The 60 players of the Suffolk Youth Orchestra, drawn from across the county, make their annual visit to Snape Maltings for this special summer performance.
