Kate Giles: Solid Air
Kate Giles’ recent work is a response to and reinterpretation of Jacob van Ruisdael’s “View of Haarlem with Bleaching Grounds” (c.1670–75 Kunsthaus Zurich) in dialogue with snatched glimpses of present day urban development under comparable big skies along the railway line from Sloterdijk to Haarlem: C17th and contemporary “Haarlempjes” (Haarlem scenes). It is the artist’s intent that the eye is caught up dancing to the music and geometry of time, space and volume, united by a congruent palette.
In a twinned exhibition, Kate Giles is also showing at Gainsborough’s House, Sudbury. Remember Tomorrow, accompanying the Constable 250 Anniversary Exhibition, runs from 25 April – 11 October 2026.
